Your hamster has a lot of energy. Wild hamsters can run up to five miles every night to get enough food! And if you want to keep a hamster in a cage happy and healthy, you must give him a chance to exercise. Most popular are exercise wheels, and every hamster should have one. Be sure that the wheel you buy is running quiet, because most of the hamster workout is done during the night! And a squeeking wheel can be very disturbingAnother popular workout hamster toy is the runabout ball. With this toy your hamster can have his workout outside his cage in a safe way (he cannot escape from the plastic ball).
What we very much like is the 'Hamtrac', an oval shaped "race track". You can place a runabout ball on this track and when your hamster is running, the ball runs like a train over the track. Fun for the kids (and you of course) and safe for your hamster, because he cannot bump into anything!
